# Staking $OPN - Earn Rewards and Loyalty

Staking is the heart of the **NeoPoints loyalty system**, and the gateway to unlocking deeper tiers of benefits - including premium NFTs and real-world perks.

### What Is Staking?

**Staking** means locking your $OPN tokens for a fixed time period. In return, you receive:

1. **NeoPoints** - our loyalty currency (used for rewards and status)
2. **Yield** - ongoing OPN token rewards over the staking period

The longer you stake, the more you earn - and the more visible your commitment becomes on-chain.

***

### Staking Options

Choose a staking pool based on how long you want to lock your tokens:

| Lock Period | NeoPoints Multiplier | OPN Yield Pool | Best For |
| ----------- | -------------------- | -------------- | ------------------------------ |
| 1 Year | ×20 | TBA | Short-term supporters |
| 2 Years | ×50 | TBA | Medium-term contributors |
| 3 Years | ×100 | TBA | Max loyalty + Visa eligibility |

> Staking for 3 years gives you the **highest points**, full yield, and access to the **Golden Visa NFT** track.

### What Do You Get?

When you stake, you’re rewarded in two ways:

#### [1. NeoPoints](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]

* Minted instantly at the time of staking
* Stored on your **NeoCard NFT**
* Used to redeem rewards, unlock badges, and build status

| Example: Staking $1,000 in Batch 1 ($0.01/OPN) |
| ------------------------------------------------------ |
| 100,000 OPN staked for 3 years = **100,000 NeoPoints** |

NeoPoints can be **Pure** (from presale tokens) or **Earned** (from secondary market tokens). Only **Pure Points** count for premium redemptions from the IOPn real world offerings.

#### 2. OPN Yield

* Earned over time (streamed during the staking period)
* Claimable every 30 days
* Based on your share of the total pool

***

### Lifecycle of a Stake

Here's how staking typically works:

1. **You stake** $OPN into a pool of your choice (1Y, 2Y, or 3Y)
2. **NeoPoints are minted instantly**
3. You start earning **yield rewards** - claimable periodically
4. After the lock duration, you **withdraw your tokens** (minus any used for redemptions)
5. Optionally, you can **burn part of your stake** to redeem merch, NFTs, or RWO perks

***

### Example Scenarios

**Alice stakes 166,666 OPN for 3 years**

* She earns 100,000 Pure NeoPoints immediately
* She claims 75,000 OPN in yield across 12 months
* She redeems her Visa NFT using 12,000 points and burns part of her stake

**Bob stakes 10,000 OPN from a DEX**

* He earns \~8,000 Earned NeoPoints over 3 years
* He can buy merch and badges

***

### Stake Management

You can:

* Hold **multiple stakes** with different durations
* Track each position on-chain
* Claim yield at any time
* Merge points and badges via your NeoCard

Your stake becomes part of your **identity** in the IOPn network - powering both digital reputation and real-world access.

***

### Security & Admin Protections

* **Funds are non-custodial** - only you can access your staked tokens
* **Emergency pause** mechanisms exist to protect user funds if needed
* **NeoPoints can only be minted** by the Manager contract - eliminating inflation risks
